a walking project by Larsen Husby


“How satisfying it is to leave a mark on a blank surface. To make a map of my movement — no matter how temporary.” — Craig Thompson 

I consider this project a form of drawing, occuring at two levels. The first is invisible and temporal: the movement of my body accross the space of the city. Even though there is no physical trace, the fact that it happened at all means that it is just as real as if I’d dripped a trail of paint behind me. The second is a translation: I mark the route of each walk on a map of the city, thus mapping those invisible lines with visible ones. The result is the series of maps below, maps of my movement over time.
